Updating Event 4 Fixture Library |
|||
This technical bulletin describes the structure of the Event 408/416 fixture library files, allowing users to add new fixtures or edit the behavior of existing fixtures. An Event4 library contains multiple fixtures stored in 2 text files (event.lib, event.fnt), which must be located in the directory a:\library. Simply use a PC to edit these files with notepad or any other text editor. A floppy disk can only contain one Event4 library. Event.lib is the main library file, it can contain up to 80 fixtures, storing the details of all the parameters within each fixture. This is information such as DMX channel allocations, the name of each parameter, whether a parameter is 8bit or 16bit resolution, default values, etc. Event.fnt is the function file, it defines which group each function belongs to. Event.lib contains: |
|||
| version = | Version number of this file (eg 2.4) | ||
| count = | Number of fixtures contained in this file | ||
| fixture = | Fixture ID - max 8 characters | ||
| name = | Fixture name - for reference | ||
| yoke = yes | Necessary for moving head fixtures (not needed for moving mirror fixtures) | ||
| output = dmx | Start new consecutive DMX channel count | ||
| parameter = | Function name - max 9 characters (see event.fnt) | ||
| default = | Power-up / home value for this parameter, if not given the console assumes default = zero | ||
| highlight = | Highlight value (currently not used by the console) | ||
| type = | Highest or Last takes precedence and 8 or 16 bit value (eg. htp8bit, ltp16bit). | ||
| deflection = | Degrees this parameter can move, valid for pan & tilt of moving head fixtures only. | ||
| constant = 0 | This DMX channel is always zero (not controlled by the console). | ||
Comments are preceded with 2 slash characters, eg. / / and must be on their own line. For 16bit parameters the MSByte must come first, immediately followed by the LSByte. If the fixture does not conform to this, the parameter must be split up into two 8bit parameters (eg. Pan & Pan fine). Note: All words in this file are to be treated as case sensitive. All values are decimal 0 - 255 or 0 - 65535. |
|||
Event.fnt contains: The rest of the file is a list of function names and which group each one is assigned to. Functions that don't appear in this list are assigned to the beam group by default. These groups are: + Intensity Note: The maximum size allowed for event.fnt is 2500 bytes. When creating a new fixture in event.lib, the parameters should use existing function names from event.fnt as much as possible. Don't add new function names unless absolutely necessary. Try to maintain similar naming conventions (eg. <> for rotation). All fixtures must have one and only one intensity parameter, which must be set to highest takes precedence. Each fixture contains form 1 to 49 parameters, consisting of: Note: Once a show has been programmed, the order of the function names within event.fnt should not be changed otherwise data will get corrupted.
