Jands has released HP Dimmer boot ROM V4. This software has been fitted to into HP Dimmers with serial numbers D99xxx and above. It supersedes all previous releases and includes the changes listed below.

Downloading new software
The user is required to confirm the downloading commence, by pressing the MODE button when the display shows "CFRM". This is to stop undesired downloads that may occur when the ENTER button is pressed while DMX signal is connected. The download sequence is now as follows:
1. Copy the files "download.exe" and the dimmer software eg "hp2_2" to a directory on the computer's hard disk.
2. Restart the computer in MS-DOS mode.
3. Change to the directory that the files were copied in step 1.
4. Switch off the dimmer power.
5. Connect the download cable from the PC COM1 connector to the dimmer DMX input connector.
6. Press and hold the "Enter" button on the dimmer keypad while turning power on. The dimmer will display "CFRM".
7. Press the MODE button on the dimmer keypad to confirm the download. Pressing any other keypad button except ENTER restarts the dimmer.
8. On the PC, start the download process by typing "download xxx<enter>", where xxx is the filename of the software to be downloaded eg. hp2_2. The dimmer keypad LEDs will chase while the download proceeds - this takes approximately 40 seconds. When the download is complete the dimmer display blanks while the data is programmed into the FLASH memory, and the dimmer restarts.

The dimmer should be deep cleared before use.
